Since its establishment, the brewery has built a reputation based on its award-winning products and consistent quality. While it once included a restaurant, Brewhaha now concentrates exclusively on the brewing process, refining its selection of craft beers.
A Foundation Built on Brewing Knowledge
Brewhaha was founded in 2016 by its original brewer, Marius Deetlefs. He established the brewery’s identity by sourcing inspiration from the American craft beer industry, making annual trips to the United States and spending time at Reformation Brewery in Woodstock, Georgia. This exposure to different brewing philosophies influenced the foundational recipes and quality standards of Brewhaha’s beers.
In 2024, the brewery was taken over by Omri (Ware) Jacobz, who continues the tradition of making craft beer in Jeffreys Bay. The transition of ownership maintains the brewery’s core focus, reflected in its slogan, “Living the hoppy life,” which signifies a deep commitment to the craft.
A Record of National Recognition
The quality of Brewhaha’s brewing has been consistently validated at the South African National Beer Trophy competition. This national event assesses beers from across the country, and Brewhaha has secured multiple awards over the years.
Their record of achievement includes:
- 2018: One gold medal and two silver medals.

The Beer Portfolio

Among them are an American IPA known as Stormy Seas, a lighter Blonde Ale called Endless Summer, and a German-style Festbier named Zelebrieren. These offerings showcase a capacity to produce distinct styles, from hop-forward ales to malt-focused lagers, each requiring a different approach to the brewing process. This variety remains central to the Brewhaha brand.
