44 year old female attacked on farm

A 44 year old female farmer of the Hankey region was attacked in her house on the night of Friday, March 23, 2018.

Captain Gerda Swart, police spokeswoman, says that the police is following up on all leads, following the incident.

Allegedly the perpetrator gained entry into the house by shooting out a glass door.

Swart said that a 44 year old female was injured when the shooting took place.

The suspect drove the woman to an ATM in Hankey in her own vehicle, after which she managed to escape while the perpetrator was drawing money from her account.

Following her escape, the victim drove to a nearby farm and alerted the police of the incident.

The police is investigating a case of housebreaking with intent to commit a crime, attempted murder and robbery with aggravating circumstances.

Captain Swart says that more charges might be added.
